Canadian Jesuits International (CJI) is the international solidarity agency of the Jesuits of Canada that supports poor and marginalized people in Africa, Asia and Latin America in their struggle for a more just society through the work of Jesuits and other partners. CJI also educates and advocates in Canada on international social justice and global solidarity.
CJI also specializes in educating youth and providing them platforms and opportunities to hone their leadership and solidarity skills with social change agents from all over the world! Through their Youth for Others (Y4O) school outreach program CJI aims to inform students about their rich heritage of social justice and the responsibility it carries, to engage students in justice issues, and to establish committed partnerships with people in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
Currently CJI is able to support justice education in schools by:
Providing speakers on Catholic social teaching and international development
Helping in planning school events on global justice themes
Connecting school fundraisers with CJI-supported projects
Providing student leaders with opportunities to raise awareness about social justice issues through the Y4O symposium
“The Y4O symposium will allow me to hear form a diverse selection of individuals worldwide and connect with other students who are passionate about social advocacy like myself. I feel the only way to continue my path as a faith-based activist is to hear from marginalized people and ask what I can do to help. Connecting with the youth across Canada will be a great interactive learning experience that future initiatives can spring off from.”
